5 Years!

In some ways it seems like yesterday that we picked Sophie up from the Hartford Pound and NNEDR was born. In others it seems like ages ago that we would naively set off late at night to dangerous locations, to pick up strange dogs in dark parking lots. There have been great joys and tremendous heartbreaks for all of the NNEDR volunteers and family. We have been with dogs when they had their puppies and we have held the heads of great friends in our laps, cried over them and said final goodbyes. We have had huge happiness when perfect matches are made and dogs leave for their forever homes, and we have sometimes felt our hearts break a little when a beloved foster dog leaves. We have had many energetic fun fosters and volunteers over the years that have become like family to us that we will always remember. To all of our fosters and volunteers past and present, THANK YOU! We would not be a rescue without volunteers. To the families that have adopted a dog (or several) from us THANK YOU for rescuing a dog through us and helping us in the process to rescue others. As always we would love to hear from you and your canine companion.

Thank you to my family... my husband who patiently supports the rescue that hijacked his life five years ago, my kids who have had their share of late night dog runs, a sleepless night or two lost to barking dogs, for bottle feeding, training, cleaning, walking, answering the phone, checking references and hanging on just one more minute while I finish an email to a potential adopter... you are great kids. Thank you.
