Hi Shane,
Here is a new report on little Casey!
Casey has been with us for two months now, and continues to grow in confidence, athleticism and height! He is nearly 3" taller, and has lost that gawky teenage look, and is beginning to give us a look at the handsome adult that he will become. Not that I don't think he's handsome now, but I may be biased by his wonderful disposition.
We have had many milestones together this past month. One of the best and most proud moment was his visit with me to see my 96-year-old Mom at the Nursing facility where she has just moved. She loves animals, and I was able to take my puppy in to see her. He was good as gold, and brought much good cheer to many of the residents. Especially the lady who had protective TENNIS BALLS on the bottom of her walker!!! He LOVED her!
His preoccupation with tennis balls is taking a back seat to the Frisbee, the chipmunk and the frog. Let's face it, this boy will chase anything that moves! I have included a few pix of him with his Dad and his Frisbee and his pond, which gives him hours of fun and exercise. It didn't take much to get him to swim. All I had to do was slip and fall in, and he jumped right it to join me. Once he knew he could swim, he goes in on his own and swims like a little otter.
He has also been very active in our local horse club, attending a trail clearing session with me, by my side to announce our Spring Fun Show, and helping to clean up manure at the barn. We went for our first horseback ride together just last week. At first, he was very worried that I should be up on that REALLY big dog, and he barked his fool head off at Lucky, my patient gelding, but as soon as we got moving, he decided this was OK, and we ran through the pastures together and played in the stream. You wouldn't believe who we met on trail though. That's right -- a dreaded GREAT DANE, loose, in company with his people. Well, a Great Dane is nothing when you are scared to death of a horse, so when Casey and the GD met, they sniffed noses, Casey put his hackles down and the GD started to bark at poor Lucky. Fortunately Lucky remained calm, the people collected their beast and we went our separate ways, and Casey showed no further fear of anything.
It's a lot to absorb in a short time, but this little guy is extremely good at napping, and everything looks good after a good long nap. We are looking forward to many more adventures throughout the summer. I hope Casey is half as happy with us as we are with him!

Note the frog in the third pix, right up on the rock. Note the concentration in the tail pose! Note also that although he catches them, he holds them for a short time, then opens his mouth and lets them go. No frog has been injured in making these pictures.
