Hi Shane,

It has taken me awhile to drag myself away from playing with this little guy to download these pictures and send them to you. If you had some kind of premonition or gut-feeling that this was the dog for us -- you were RIGHT! My husband and I were reeling from the loss of our previous rescue. Our beloved Bill was born with a liver problem, and died just last month. He was only three. Into that void came Casey, a bounding, joyful bundle of giggles with soft fur and a huge heart. He has brought so much love and fun into our lives.

He has been to his new doc, had some shots and a thorough look-see, and was pronounced healthy as a small horse. He is black lab and maybe Bassett hound, and part battering ram. He doesn't take no for an answer as long as it's fun, but it only took one time to tell him he must sleep in his own bed (next to ours) and two times to tell him he mustn't beg at the table. Although he has been granted "couch rights"! He is smart, sweet and a great trail companion. He loves all people and most other dogs (unless they are Huge!) and his nose has been working overtime as we explore the miles of trails in our town. We will be working on swimming lessons as it gets warmer with Kota, Maddie and Ellie, his three closest dog friends, in our pond.

Rich and I want to thank you and all of your volunteers for helping to unite us with Casey. He is truly a rare find, and a beautiful boy!

  1. Hi Harriet and Rich- my wife and I fostered Casey briefly right after his arrival from KY. Unfortunately it didnt work out too well since our great dane, despite being very gentle, was a little too huge and scary for him. However, I thought Casey was a fantastic and adorable pup, and you should be glad he didn't get along with our dog since otherwise we might seriously have considered adopting him! Anyway, I just wanted to comment and say that I love the pics and I am so very happy that Casey found what sounds like a perfect home for him. "huge heart" is a perfect description of his personality. I'm sure he will be a great addition to your family. congratulations and good luck in the future...
