Full Swing

The past month has been busy for NNEDR. We decided to ease our way back into rescue with a litter of eight beagle puppies, two pit bulls from NYC and a Lhasa Apso from Hartford CT. Luckily the majority of them have gone off to their forever home. We have had some opportunities to work with a couple of new fosters and we are so excited about them. We are extremely grateful to the people that foster these dogs and commit to giving them another chance, support and love while we find them the right family. There are a lot of challenges in fostering from the basic house training to behavioral issues, separation anxiety, constant spinning in place or territorial marking. It takes dedication and a sense of humor. Sometimes when a dog leaves it breaks a foster's heart and sometimes it is a relief. We know it isn't easy and we appreciate what you do.

A plug for our two current residents: Spin. When he came to us he just spun in circles marking and growled when we tried to picking him up. Thanks to his foster family this boy has come a long way. For the most part the spinning and marking (he does where a doggy diaper when he is loose in the house playing with the other dogs) have stopped unless he is in a new place and nervous. He has completely come out of his shell and is a very cute, outgoing and affectionate little guy. He likes car rides, sunsets and other dogs to play with. Mortimer. He is adorable, mostly house trained and working on basic obedience. Soft and Cuddly. If you know any experienced beagle people that are looking for an inside family companion, let them know about Morty he is the bomb.
And our most recent alumni:

Beckett, FKA Rocky: Beckett has settled into his forever family with relative ease. He loves his dog sister Molly and all of his human family members.

Bailey and Porter (FKA Chester),
Shane, Just wanting to send some photos of the beagles puppies. They are doing very well and we are just loving them. They love being together and playing together. Thanks so much for working to find their whole litter home. Greg and Jane

Cooper, FMA Bubba,
Hi everyone;

I have been in my new home since Friday, 10/17 and am settling in with my new folks and two cats to live with. I have been to the veterinarian for a checkup, distemper booster, bordatella, and another deworming. I will be going back next month for my rabies shot and then neutering (YUCK!) in late December. I also have visited the doggie daycare (Bed & Biscuit) where I will be going at times and it is really nice. I have met some dogs there and played with them; I am the smallest. I'm still working on doing all of my business outside but still have a few accidents--WOOPS....... Chris & Sue take good care of me and I get to snuggle, sleep on their laps and have lots of acreage outside to play in. I hope my brothers and sisters are doing OK also.

Cooper
