Tanner & Mamie

Hi Shane: I hope you and your family and everyone affiliated with NNEDR are all doing well. I'm sorry to hear about Savannah. I have attached new pictures of Tanner and Mamie, who are as different as night and day. Tanner is a big couch potato, whereas Mamie is a social butterfly. She LOVES everyone, whereas he is more of a one person dog who tolerates other people. He savors his food, whereas Mamie tears through hers in an instant and waits for him to walk away from his bowl long enough for her to steal it. He used to have a habit of bringing a few nuggets and dropping them here and there in the living room and dining room. When he finished his bowl, he would come back and eat the ones he scattered about. Poor guy had to give up that habit because Miss Piggy got to them before he could get back to them. They're great dogs and they complete my family.

Thank you Carol for your update on Mamie and Tanner. They could not have come from more different backgrounds and you made them a part of your family ... Mamie came to New England through the Grayson Humane Society in Leitchfield KY. She spent days in a minivan with a lot of other dogs making her way to her new home and she is certainly lucky she did. Mamie had very little chance of being adopted in KY and could possibly have spent her whole life at the kennel as they strive to be no kill. The Grayson Humane society operates with just five dedicated volunteers. These women place dogs all over, they drive to New England, to PA and to all parts of NY with the dogs. They sleep in the vans with the dogs, they are truly animal heroes. Their shelter is over crowded and they desperately need help and adopters for their dogs. Check out their website and feel free to contact me if you think there is a dog on there you are interested in fostering or adopting. There are some great dogs down there that have been living at the kennel for 4+ years! Mamie, Wally, Maddie all came from Grayson.
