Sadie was only in the rescue a few days when approved adopter contacted us to say that she and her family were interested in meeting her. The meeting went well and we all new we had a perfect match! As many of you know the first few weeks with a rescue dog can be difficult and Sadie has certainly been testing the resident cat, but Sadie's family is committed to working through whatever issues come up for her and truly being her forever family!
A letter from Sadie's new Mom:
Sadie is fine. Stripes the cat hates us and her but Sadie is truly working with us on this.
She grows more energetic with each day.
Much more hyper than she first presented...which is ok because that tells us she is growing more comfortable and secure. She really is high maintenance because she really needs constant attention due to her energy level. For that reason, we are a great family for her. Energetic teenagers to watch & play with her, and Mommy & Daddy who work opposite schedules. She is only left alone for a few hours a day (crated). She gets the attention she craves and needs.
Had first bath last night. Has quite a bad temper when she doesn't get her own way or doesn't want to do something. Such a teenager!
Reviewing commands ("lay down" for around the cat which isn't working but we'll keep at it, "stay" which she is trying but she really loves to chase cars even though she seems surprised to be leashed, and "sit" to take off leash...she's gotten this one). Vet had some really good recommendations for helping her through all of the above.
She will need some other training in the future but we don't want to overwhelm her.
She walks on her hind legs, plays fetch with a toy but not a ball, LOOOOVVVESSS ice cubes, and she has made friends with the ever growing family of large dogs two doors down. Every afternoon after dinner, we take our 1-2 mile walk. When we pass the neighbor's house, all the dogs come out to say Hi to her. She loves the attention.
Loves to go down to the basement with me...watches me do laundry and chores. She NEVER leaves my side when I'm at home.
She is such a little character. We are totally smitten.
Thank You.
